Parish Council Minutes

Holy Rosary Parish Council

November 19, 2007

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Present: Chris Geiser, Father Dick Felischmann, Joe Klein, Bernadette Ruckdashel, Phil Lundman, Dan Schommer, Jim Lippe, Don Hamm, and Jo Ann Wagner.

Prayer:  The opening prayer was led by Jo Ann.

Minutes:  Minutes from the October 15, 2007, Parish Council meeting were approved on a MOTION by Joe, seconded by Bernadette, and carried.The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m. on a MOTION by Dan, seconded by Bernadette, and carried.

Prayer and Worhsip:  Phil reported on the october 23, 2007 Tri-Parish prayer and Worship meeting.  Hymns will be announced at mass in addition to posting on sign bords, each parish will designate someone for funeral ministries, Father Guy will address problems with the Spanish mass, the installation ceremony for father Guy and Father Dick will be 
Sunday, December 16, 2007, at the 10:00 mass at Random lake.  December 8th is a Holy Day with mass at 7:30 p.m. on December 7th at Holy Cross and on December 8th at 8:00 a.m. at Lake Church and 9:00 a.m. at Random Lake.  The mass schedule for Christmas is:

EVE: 4:00 @ Holy Cross     DAY: 8:00 @ Lake Church

4:30 @ St. Rose                  9:30 @ Holy Cross

5:00 @ Random Lake        10:00 @ Random Lake

5:30 @ Lake Church

8:00 @ St. Rose

Midnight at Dacada

Human Concerns:  Joe reported that most Human Concerns information is in the weekly bulletin.  The Gift a Child program has 48 kids.  Food donations are needed for the food pantry.  Donut sunday is once per month and will be reviewed in January.  Christmas flowers will be delivered in mid-December.  The request to help St. Mary's Clinic is from the Archbishop.  The clinic operates in the evening and county transportation is not provded after 6:00 p.m.

Finance:  The pledge cards have been slow to be returned.  Most capital improvements have been completed.  Insurance covered about one-half of the flood damage.

Buildings and Grounds:  Dan reported that the intercom system is now operational.  A setback thermostat has also been installed to lower the classroom temperature on weekends.

Maintenance Position:  Jim and Dan will discuss this in the next few months and create a list of job duities/maintenance items.

Education:  Chris reported that the Education committee met last Monday and created an ad for the principal position.  This will be published after Thanksgiving.  Discussion will also be held with Random lake on the possibility of sharing services.  The Education Committee also reviewed their mission and goals.  Scrip is still a good fundraiser, but ideas are needed to increase participation.

Pastor's Report:  Last week the Tri-Parish Plan Committee met.  Leadership meetings have been scheduled in the next few weeks and Father Dick encouraged everyone to attend a meeting.  One will be held in Port Washington on December 4th.

Parish Photographs:  Chris reported that Olan Mills does church directories.  No volunteers are needed from the parish.  Everyone who has their picture taken receives a free directory and an 8 x 10 picture.  father Dick warned of high pressure sales being used.  he also noted that Lake Church has sugested a tri-parish directory.  Jim will discuss this possibility at the next tri-parish meeting.

Parish Festival Committee:  As of this time, no one has volunteered to serve as chairperson.

Next Meeting:  The next meeting will be December 17, 2007, to review the survey prepared by the Tri-Parish Plan Committee.  If the survey is not ready for review, the next meeting will be January 21, 2008.
